Classic modern
The interest in the art of classical modernism has been unbroken for years. Classic Modernism is understood as a style epoch of varied, avant-garde styles in the visual arts that developed quickly between the end of the Belle Époque and the middle of the 20th century. Within a few decades, an unprecedented style-plurism developed, which makes this epoch so interesting and diverse for art collectors. While Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, together in France, explored the world with their cubistic images in all possible perspectives, the German expressionists sought to express their way of life through their free use of color and form. In Austria, this style epoch was characterized in particular by the work of Gustav Klimt, Egon Schieles but also by artists such as Koloman Moser and Alfons Walde. W&K - Wienerroither & Kohlbacher have been specialists for classical modern art for more than 20 years. In our repertoire, you will find not only drawings by Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, paintings by Koloman Moser, but also watercolors by Oskar Kokoschka. In addition we present works by German expressionists such as Franz Marc and Paul Klee, as well as Spanish and French artists of modernism, eg. Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque or Joan Miro. With our many years of experience and our international network of experts, we are one of the first addresses for the purchase and sale of artworks of classical modernism, art after 1945 and selected contemporary artists in Vienna.
