Josef Floch
Josef Floch is one of the most outstanding Austrian artistic personalities of the twentieth century. Born in Vienna in 1894, he is today one of the few exceptional Austrian artists who have made the leap into the international art world and successfully moved between the art capitals of Paris and New York during his lifetime.

From 1920 to 1938 he was a member of the Vienna Hagenbund, at that time the most progressive association of visual artists in Vienna, which proved to be an important platform for modernism. This period also saw one of his most important solo exhibitions, in 1929 at the renowned gallery of the Parisian art dealer Berthe Weill.

In the fall of 2022, W&K will present an exhibition devoted in particular to the artist's early works, an extension of the highly acclaimed exhibition "HAGENBUND - From Moderate to Radical Modernism" at the Leopold Museum. The exhibition at W&K is supported by numerous loans from Austrian private collections.
