From March 2019, W&K – Wienerroither & Kohlbacher will dedicate a solo exhibition at the Palais Schönborn-Batthyány to the Swiss artist Nives Widauer, who lives and works in Vienna. Her works combine analogue and digital media and form a transition between historical influences and contemporary aspects. Nives Widauer takes up social and cultural aspects, breaks them and questions conventional structures and classifications. On display are works from the last 30 years, combined with new and especially for the exhibition created works. Curator of the exhibition is Sabine Fellner.
Nives Widauer studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in Basel from 1987 to 1990. Since 1989 she has been active in the fields of video art, installation art, photography and stage design. Her works have been shown at the Kunsthaus Zurich, Belvedere Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, Palazzo Dei Diamanti Ferrara, Austrian Cultural Forum New York, SPSI Shanghai and many more.
